Meet Cargo-Herc and Tango-Blue, FCVA’s newest pups in Operation Save a Vet, Save a Pet!

20 December 2023- The Franklin County Veterans Affairs’ Veterans Day Throwdown has been in the books for about a month and since then the grand prizes have been growing and maturing. The fundraising campaign totaled $24,735, all going to the Department to provide better services for vets in our communities.

The winner of the Throwdown was Team Master Sergeant Troy E. Smith, who raised a total of $9,350. That money was raised in memory of MSGT Smith, with the team deciding to name a beautiful pup Cargo-Herc.

Coming in a close second place was Greencastle-Antrim’s second grade team with $9,137 raised. Since these teams were so close FCVA had to get two dogs to name! The GCASD 2nd graders went with the name Tango-Blue.

FCVA said in a statement after the naming, “We are so thankful for all who donated and help raise awareness for our Veterans Affairs Office and our service dog program: Operation Save-A-Vet, Save-A-Pet. We are loving the newest members of our pack.”
