McConnellsburg domestic ends with a stab wound and broken nose for male victim

16 February 2024- A McConnellsburg woman is facing assault with a deadly weapons and more charges following a domestic dispute that escalated Thursday night. Desaree Dawn Gress is charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, felony strangulation, misdemeanor possession of an instrument of a crime, misdemeanor assault, misdemeanor terroristic threats, misdemeanor reckless endangerment, and citation harassment. Gress is behind bars on $50,000 bail.

PSP were initially sent to the Fulton County Medical Center for a person who was suffering from a stab wound. That man, identified as the boyfriend of Desaree Gress, would say that a small argument happened with Gress prior to him being stabbed. Minor issues regarding how things were said and things that needed to get done eventually led, police say, to the victim being punched in the face by Gress. Doctors would later determine that this caused the victim to break his nose.

After the punch, Gress reportedly continued verbally fighting then eventually throw things at the victim. Not brought up initially but only after Troopers noticed, this escalated to Gress allegedly choking the victim and causing ligature marks on him. Finally, the incident ended after the victim was stabbed by Gress, with her then exiting the room and the victim staying for some time before he sought medical attention.

The victim allegedly told police that he did not hear Gress make any threats towards him during the stabbing and that “she just needs help”. Gress, the victim allegedly said, had tried to stab him in the week prior.

PSP were able to speak to Desaree Gress after this, with her painting a different picture all together. Gress reportedly told police that she thought the victim was under the influence at the time of the incident and that he was the aggressor. PSP say Gress told them that the victim had been the one to hit and strangle her, which caused her to have multiple seizures. Gress, however, reportedly admitted to stabbing the victim in self defense.

It should be said that as of time of publication, Desaree Gress has been charged with the previously mentioned crimes but the alleged victim has not.

Desaree Gress is behind bars on $50,000 bail.
