01 March 2023- A Hagerstown man is back in jail after he allegedly skips his work release only to be caught walking to Maryland in the median of I-81. Cedrick Lemar Davis is charged with felony escape and summary violating limited use of highway. Davis is back behind bars on $50,000 bail.
Around 3:45pm on February 28th, Pennsylvania State Police were called to I-81 near mile marker 13.5 for a man walking southbound on the median of the highway. Around 10 minutes later, police allegedly found the man walking along the roadway and told him he can’t walk on the highway. The man was identified as Cedrick Lemar Davis through his name and DOB. Davis said he was trying to walk to Hagerstown.
After Davis was identified, Troopers allegedly called dispatch only to find out that the Franklin County Jail was reporting an escaped inmate by the name of Cedrick Davis. Davis allegedly was on work release to Applegate on Superior Avenue in Chambersburg. The man then allegedly left his work around 12:30pm without approval.
Davis was allegedly in jail for charges relating to a criminal trespass, to which he was to be confined for 23 months. Davis started work release on February 1st of this year.
Davis is back in jail, now on a monetary bail of $50,000. His preliminary hearing is set for March 7th.
