09 August 2023- Pennsylvania State Police announce the arrest of a West Virginia man on I-70 in Fulton County after police allegedly find copious amounts of cash and drugs in his vehicle. Mohamed Mothana Abdulla is free on an unsecured bail of $50,000 after being charged with felony possession with intent to distribute, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and a traffic violation.
On January 3rd of 2023, Pennsylvania State Police stopped a black 2013 Lexus LX 570 on I-70 in Fulton County for following a tractor trailer too closely. Police then spoke to the driver, Mohamed Abdulla, where they allegedly found multiple “indicators of criminal activity”. Troopers then asked to search the vehicle, which was granted.
A search of the vehicle was conducted and police allegedly found two bags of khat, a bag of bulk currency, and a Glock 17 Gen 4 air pistol. Khat is a drug/plant found in East Africa that produces a stimulant-like effect that is take by making the leaves into a tea, a chewable past, sprinkled on food, or smoked. The total amount of US cash that was seized was $16,730.
Police sent the suspected khat to the Harrisburg Regional Laboratory for testing, with results concluding that the substance contained cathinone and cathine. Both of those drugs, which are schedule I and schedule IV respectively, are found in khat.
Mohamed Abdulla is free on an unsecured bail of $50,000. His preliminary hearing is set for October 2nd.
