05 February 2024- A man looks to be physically alright after an altercation and reported attempted robbery that occurred last week inside of his own car. Ky’Jarese Damani Hicks is charged with felony attempted robbery with a threat to commit a serious injury, misdemeanor assault, and misdemeanor terroristic threats. Hicks failed to post bail of $150,000 and is behind bars in Franklin County.
Chambersburg PD were originally dispatched to a location on Ludwig Avenue around 3:10pm on January 29th for a car crash. They quickly learned, however, the crash was caused by an attempted robbery.
CPD interviewed the driver, with him allegedly saying that he was getting food at a restaurant’s drive through when someone he knew from school came up to the car and asked if he could wait for his friend to arrive inside of the victim’s car instead of outside. Agreeing, the driver then allegedly took him to a gas station then to another location to wait for that man’s friends. That man who hitched a ride was later identified by the driver as Ky’Jarese Hicks.
While they were waiting at that location on Lincoln Way East, Hicks allegedly caught the victim off guard and reached across the center console, putting the victim in a chokehold. Hicks then allegedly pulled out a box knife and threatened the victim, saying that he should “give him everything” and threatened to cut him. Additionally, Hicks reportedly told the victim that two of his friends were outside the vehicle with “glizzys”, which in this context were not slang terms for hot dogs but rather Glock handguns.
In order to get away from the situation, the victim threw the vehicle in reverse and tried to leave in his car. After reversing, the victim reportedly saw two men standing outside the car. Putting the vehicle back into drive, the victim then crashed the car into a retaining wall, disabling the vehicle. Spooked, Hicks and the two other individuals around the car fled the scene.
As of right now, Hicks is the only person seemingly charged in this incident.
Ky’Jarese Hicks is behind bars on $150,000 bail.
