Man charged with assaulting two different CNAs at Chambersburg Hospital

05 March 2024- A Chambersburg Borough man is facing multiple felonies after CPD have to be dispatched to the hospital twice in one night for two alleged assaults by him against the staff. Oscar Edwin Lopez-Marquez is charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault against designated individuals and is currently behind bars in Franklin County on $25,000 bail.

Chambersburg PD say that they were dispatched to the Chambersburg Hospital Behavioral Health Unit sometime on March 4th for a reported assault. Once there, CPD spoke to the victim who they say was tending to Oscar Lopez-Marquez in the BHU when he was punched in the left side of his face with a closed fist after Lopez-Marquez had been “acting up in his room”. That victim was waiting in the hospital’s ER for treatment for some extended pain in the left side of his jaw, which is where Lopez-Marquez allegedly punched him.

The same CPD officer was dispatched to the BHU again that night for a second assault allegedly perpetrated by Lopez-Marquez. This time, CPD say Lopez-Marquez assaulted a female CNA after he had been let out of his restraints by slapping her on the side of the face so hard “the area hurt to the touch”. Both of these incidents were witnessed and reportedly corroborated by other staff at the hospital.

Oscar Lopez-Marquez is behind bars today on $25,000 bail.
