Man charged with assault, more after Waynesboro PD called originally to an OD

08 July 2024- A Waynesboro man is facing multiple felonies after his girlfriend is hospitalized following an episode of pills. Charles Albert Mossman is facing charges of felony strangulation, felony aggravated assault with extreme indifference, and misdemeanor simple assault. Mossman failed to post bail of $75,000 and remains behind bars in Franklin County.

Waynesboro PD were called to a home on Main Street in the borough around 1:30am on July 3rd for a woman overdosing. That woman was quickly taken to the hospital for treatment but was found to have bruises on her. The victim’s boyfriend, Charles Mossman, was questioned but was released pending further investigation.

After speaking to multiple people, including the victim and their family members, Waynesboro PD again began investigating Mossman and potential abuse against the victim. That is when they were dispatched to a call of a man slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle parked near the Days Inn in Waynesboro. That man turned out to be Charles Mossman, who allegedly gave his series of events on what happened the night of his girlfriend’s attempted overdose.

Interviews with family members of the victim and of the victim herself allegedly yielded information around Mossman, including potential abuse and choking, including bruising and other assaults. WPD believe that the extent that this was carried out warranted multiple charges against Mossman.

Charles Mossman remains behind bars in Franklin County after failing to post bail of $75,000.
