Man booked in Fulton County for allegedly spraying gasoline around pump to start a fire with him in it

23 June 2023- A Montgomery County man is behind bars in Fulton County after allegedly trying to start himself, a gas station, and his car on fire by spraying gasoline everywhere. Jaemyung Hwang, 37, of Wyncote PA, is charged with felony risking catastrophe, felony terroristic threats, misdemeanor reckless endangerment, misdemeanor simple assault, misdemeanor disorderly conduct, misdemeanor criminal mischief- catastrophe, and misdemeanor DUI. Hwang failed to post a bail of $175,000 and is behind bars in Bedford County Prison, which has an arrangement with Fulton County.

Around 12:30am on June 22nd, Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to the Martin’s Oil 522 Pit Stop for a man acting erratic and spraying gasoline from the pump. When police arrived on scene, they allegedly found that Hwang had drove to the station, parked next to the pump, and then removed the nozzle before spraying it around the pump and onto his vehicle. Hwang was listed as driving a 2021 BMW X5M

Hwang was then approached by employees after he started. He allegedly lit a cigarette and advised a juvenile that they should go inside so they would not see what was about to happen. Hwang was arrested without noted incident and charges were issued through MDJ 39-4-02, Judge David A Washabaugh V.

Hwang is behind bars on $175,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is set for July 3rd.
