Juniata County woman allegedly tries to steal hundreds from Chambersburg Dick’s, found with pills

11 October 2023- A Port Royal woman is looking at a series of charges following an alleged shoplifting incident in Guilford Township this week. Jackie Paz Santiago is charged with felony retail theft by destroying a tag, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor false identification to a law enforcement official. Santiago is behind bars in Franklin County on $30,000 bail.

Around 6:30pm on October 10th, Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to the Dick’s Sporting Goods on Lincoln Way East, Guilford Township for a retail theft in progress. When they arrived, police quickly located the person staff believed was stealing from the store. That woman, when approached by police, allegedly gave a name of Bethany Robinson.

Troopers were able to view security footage from that day, which allegedly showed “Robinson” enter the store without anything on her person. When she came to a register to pay for a beanie, she allegedly had a backpack filled with merchandise in it that she set on the floor rather than the counter, potentially signaling that she wasn’t going to pay for it.

Believing that she wasn’t actually Bethany Robinson, police allegedly again asked the woman her name and DOB. She then gave information for Jackie Santiago, her real name. When police searched her, they allegedly found a pill bottle of Ritalin made out to Robinson, to which Santiago allegedly said she was transporting back to her friend in Juniata County.

Jackie Santiago is behind bars on $30,000 bail. Her preliminary hearing is set for October 24th.
