WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman John Joyce (PA-13) joined Congressman Michael Cloud (TX-27) and 35 fellow Members of Congress in urging U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr to take “bold and courageous action” to investigate claims of fraud and irregularities in the election.
“In Pennsylvania and around the country, we must ensure that this election is free, fair, safe, secure, legitimate – and transparent,” Joyce said. “U.S. Attorney General Barr and the Department of Justice must take courageous action to safeguard the integrity of the election and ensure that every American’s legally-cast ballot is counted once. For the sake of our nation, we must work together across the federal, state, and local levels to ensure that the results of this election are legitimate and fair.”
In their letter, the members of Congress expressed concerns over alleged irregularities and potential voter fraud, as well as a shocking lack of action from the Justice Department following Barr’s Nov. 9 directive to authorize federal prosecutors to pursue substantial allegations of fraud.
“We appreciate an attorney general who reveres the Constitution, who understands the rule of law and is able to skillfully and forcefully convey these ideals. What the American people need in this moment, however, is bold and courageous action,” they wrote. “Unfortunately, too often the American people have seen many of our most powerful institutions corrupted against the People. In the case of alleged election improprieties, justice delayed truly would be justice denied. The American people deserve, and justice demands, action now.”
