It’s time for the State of the Union – will you be watching?

February 7 – President Joe Biden will hold a State of the Union address this evening.

Some talking points includes deficit reduction and lowering prescription drug prices, according to White House officials.

The speech was rehearsed at Camp David this weekend and it is still being refined.

Attorney Clint Barkdoll said, “Viewership continues to decline. You look at the Neilson chart on State of the Union over the last 30 years, it dips very steadily every year. Tonight will be no different. And we know the drill. He’ll have some lines that the Democrats will stand up and applaud.”

New policy initiatives will likely be rolled out, but it’s pretty unlikely any of them will make it to the finish line.

Barkdoll said, “Two things being reported this morning, he’s going to propose a new tax on billionaires and a new tax on stock buy backs from the corporate end. If they buy back their shares, they would pay a four percent tax on what they buy back. They currently pay one percent.”

Historically very few of the initiatives discussed in the State of the Union actually become legislation.

Barkdoll said, “So it’s almost become a formality that has very little practical effect when you get down to it.”

Congressman John Joyce would like to hear “an explanation to his failed policies. I want him to talk to the American people why we’re not utilizing the energy sources that are under the feet of our constituents. I want Biden to explain why we have these broken supply chains. I want Biden to address our open southern border where fentanyl continues to pour across, killing individuals in our community from that fentanyl poisoning. Biden has ignored the kitchen table issues and while he’s been ignoring these issues, House Republicans, we’re trying to get to work.”

Indeed, the House Republicans have passed legislation that reopens the House, on energy security and that defunds the 87,000 IRS agents.

Joyce continued, “We want to hold Biden and his administration accountable for the weaponization of the federal government. I want to hear what Biden has to say. I want to hear how he can come before the House and the Senate without having secured our border, ignoring the sanctity of our border and our air space. I can’t wait to hear how he’s going to address the issues of China sending a spy satellite going over our weapons sources and taking pictures and sending that back to the Chinese Communist Party. And what’s Biden talking about? He’s talking about taking your gas stove out of your kitchen. Talk about a failed and blind administration. I look forward to hearing some answers. I’m not sure that he’s going to step forward with answers tonight, but we’ve watched the Democrats in Congress spend hard-earned American tax dollars and it’s time to hear about a plan of being fiscally responsible, protecting the sovereignty of our country and unleashing the energy sources that Americans want. They want to hear that. They want to hear that he has a plan and not talk about taking away the stove in your kitchen that might function with natural gas. It hinges on being absurd. I think the blinders have to come off. We want to hear a true leader coming forth. I want him to give us a vision for returning the sovereignty of our country, but I’m not hopeful. I’m really not.”

The fencing is back up around the House of Representatives for the day, as per President Biden.

Joyce said, “I walk to work every morning and that eight-foot fencing with concrete Jersey barriers is behind it, just for the day. Your tax dollars have supported that. I was opposed to it. The Capitol police are doing their jobs. I made it clear to them that I work here and this fencing is unnecessary. It’s Biden insecurity facing the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate. It’s unacceptable. It’s absolutely wrong.”
