Interstate 81 delays continuing as PSP, First Responders clear multi-vehicle accident

UPDATE: Northbound on the interstate is currently open but remains very slow and congested, mainly due to people viewing the prior collision near MM7.0. Southbound on the interstate remains closed.

07 February 2024- Interstate 81 continues to be closed as a crash reportedly with up to three commercial vehicles involved is being tended to by first responders between Greencastle and Marion.

As of time of publication, the interstate is completely closed on both directions between Exit 10 in Pennsylvania, Marion/Swamp Fox Road and Exit 5, Greencastle/PA-16. Fire police and first responders are directing traffic off the interstate and onto the East-West Roads in order for traffic to flow onto northbound roads like US-11, Grindstone Hill Road, and Browns Mill Road.

Social media and other reports may indicate that at least one of the trucks may have jackknifed on one side of the highway with two crashing as a result on the other side. One of them may be carrying HBC/HBA products like Vick’s Vaporub and humidifiers.

This continues to be a developing story, with first responders being called to the scene potentially all the way from Newburg.
