21 June 2023- Consumer grade fireworks may be banned in Chambersburg, especially around the holidays, but professional displays are still set to roll out this Independence Day. The Borough of Chambersburg and the Rec Department in conjunction with many sponsors are rolling out a HUGE day of festivities starting at 1pm at the Aquatics Center and culminating in fireworks around 9:30pm.
The day begins at the Chambersburg Aquatics Center, which opens at 1pm, and will feature games throughout the day from 2-5pm with gates set to close at 7pm.
From 4-9pm in Memorial Park, the Rec Department is set to host a bash for all ages. Inflatables and games, face painting, food trucks and a beer garden, and bands will all be throughout the park until fireworks are ready to roll at dusk. Antietam Dairy, Midnight Smoke BBQ, Edward’s Kettle Corn, Bernard’s Jamaican Jerk Chicken, The Pretzel Spot Café, Hot Dogs Plus, Sweet Rollers, Liquid Art Brewing, Michaux Brewing, and Rough Edges Brewing are all set to be in attendance from 4-9pm.
The park is set to hosts bands between 5pm and 9pm, with the Mercersburg Community Band playing from 8-9:15pm.
The Borough emphasizes that dogs are generally welcome on leashes at Memorial Park but SHOULD NOT be there during the July 4th Celebration.
