January 27 – The war in Ukraine must seem almost like a video game to some people with how lightly they seem to be taking the fact that ammunition and tanks have been sent to the area without any attempt at actually negotiating some kind of peace.
We hear all the time about how video games can decrease a child’s sensitivity to violence. Did some people in power play too many video games when they were young?
Since Russia invaded Ukraine last year almost at this time, there has been a lot of death and destruction, but have we really seen it? Do people really realize what’s going on?
If the faces of the dead would appear on the front page of news would that stop the influx of weaponry to the area?
Pat Ryan of NewsTalk 103.7FM pointed out, “If you will take a good, hard look at body count, the bloody, lifeless, limbless children, elderly and animals in Ukraine and we talk about having a negotiation instead of tanks being sent there. I would imagine if you saw this stuff splashed across the front page, you would see how fast this would end.”
Attorney Clint Barkdoll said, “You saw some international and national security experts yesterday warning that they think this injection of over 200 tanks from countries around the world including 30 from the US could lead to nuclear weapons being deployed from Russia. You’re right about the power of photography.”
Public opinion could possibly turn very quickly on this issue if the real pictures were in front of their faces every day like it was with the Vietnam War.
Barkdoll said, “If anything it seems like you have Republicans and Democrats in Congress just clapping and cheerleading for more money and more artillery.”
Some are even suggesting the US should be doing more and sending more weapons.
Barkdoll said, “It almost seems like the government has developed this group-think mentality, that the only path here is to keep throwing more money, more weaponry at this situation and that seems to be the position that a lot of other countries around the world are adopting. There’s no end in sight of this situation. It’s a very troubling dynamic.”
Ryan asked, “What do I have to do? Do I have to find someone that’s crying? Is that what it is? Or a dog that’s dying in the street? What will it take to get these ghouls – and that’s what they are. They’re all ghouls. At this point if you’re not talking about just having a conversation and I’ll call out the Democrats as well. It’s Democrats, it’s Republicans. It’s Joe Biden. It’s ridiculous that you don’t hear anything out of the Democrats going where are the talks? Why can’t we have some talks? It makes me sick to my stomach and I have to see it on the third page of some woman holding onto two beautiful little children, their faces are all dirty. They’re amongst the rubble. I have to watch the mainstream media covering Meghan Markle and Harry. That’s what you’re covering. Shame on you.”
Michele Jansen of NewsTalk 103.7FM added, “The media’s certainly not treating this objectively at all I don’t think. It feels like they’re looking at it politically.”
