CHAMBERSBURG—WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital was placed on divert Tuesday evening, however that doesn’t mean the hospital has stopped accepting emergencies.
“It’s really an EMS term,” said Jeannie Constable, hospital spokesperson. “We divert so we can manage the volume. We’re not closed.”
A social media post based on a scanner report suggested the Emergency Department was closed.
Constable said the health system was getting calls with people concerned about whether or not they could receive emergency treatment.
“Our Emergency Department does not close,” she said. “People who need emergency care will not be turned away.”
