27 July 2023 -A heat advisory has been issued by the National Weather service for Pennsylvania from 12pm today to 8pm Friday 28 July 2023. In the Maryland and West Virginia listening areas the advisory is posted from 12pm today until 8pm tonight 27 July 2023.
- WHAT…Maximum heat index from 100 to 105 expected.
- IMPACTS…Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses to occur. - ADDITIONAL DETAILS – A heat advisory may also be needed for Saturday afternoon.
- PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… Drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun, and stay in an air-conditioned room. Check up on relatives and neighbors, and provide pets with adequate water and shelter from the sun.
Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
Consider rescheduling strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing.
