HEADS UP: 60mph gusts possible as severe thunderstorm warning issued for Washington, Berkeley Counties

25 May 2024- The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Northeastern Washington County and Northeastern Berkeley County in the Panhandle of West Virginia Until 715 PM EDT. *

At 638 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles west of Wilson-Conococheague, or 10 miles north of Martinsburg, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles. *

Locations impacted include… Hagerstown, Municipal Stadium, Robinwood, Fountainhead-Orchard Hills, Boonsboro, Paramount-Long Meadow, Wilson-Conococheague, Williamsport, Long Meadow, Saint James, Halfway, Maugansville, Keedysville, Funkstown, Falling Waters, Fairplay, Leitersburg, Clear Spring, Hedgesville, and Chewsville.
