Hagerstown to begin improvements on Wheaton Park

01 March 2023- Based on community input that helped shape the master plan for the improvements at Wheaton Park, the City of Hagerstown will begin work on Phase I next week.

The design includes an improved parking lot, a misting pad, a plaza area with a welcome sign and interpretive panels detailing the park’s history, the removal of the house at 124 Charles Street to make way for future expansion of the play area, sidewalk installation to Pennsylvania Avenue, and the addition of a shade structure, benches, and new flag poles.

The $430,000 project is funded in full by a Federal Community Development Block Grant and is expected to be completed in about four months.
