30 June 2023- On June 28th 2023, at about 11:00 am, officers responded to the 200 block of Columbia Avenue for a report of a burglary in progress. Officers were told that a neighbor had heard a loud crash and then saw someone enter the residence. When they arrived on scene, officers saw the rear window to the residence was broken out and someone walking inside. Units established a perimeter around the residence and attempted to call the suspect out.
When the suspect didn’t come out, officers entered the residence and located a male later identified as Thomas Lee Gordon (age 43 of Hagerstown) inside. Gordon was not a resident of the home and did not have permission to be there. He was taken into custody and as a result of his arrest, officers were able to close 4 other burglaries cases that had occurred in the last 30 days. The other burglaries were in the 300 block of Wakefield Rd, the 1300 block of Woodland Way, the 1100 block of The Terrace, and the 900 block of Kenwood Dr.
Gordon was charged in all five burglary cases and was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is currently being held without bond.
