Hagerstown PD looking for help after men damage and steal coins from over 30 parking meters

22 November 2022- Hagerstown Police Department is again looking for the public’s help after officers discover a string of parking meters busted up and all of the money stolen from them. While the Police Department says the money isn’t necessarily the main driver, borough officials have to fix the meters, get new meters if necessary, and have continued problems with them. Full release from Hagerstown PD is below.

Over the last several weeks we have had numerous coin operated parking meters damaged and the money stolen out of them. While we know these photos aren’t the best, they are the best of what we have at the moment. We are offering a monetary reward for information leading to their arrests. Anyone with information can contact us at crimetip@hagerstownpd.org or 240-313-4345

A later update from the Hagerstown PD:

Keep those tips coming, we have received some positive leads. To be clear there have been over 30 of these thefts. It’s as much about the coins taken as the amount of money it takes to fix the damage. For those that think we are focusing on the wrong thing…we are very capable of investigating more than one thing at a time. Additionally, we have been in the process of upgrading our camera system. There seems to be many comments about stadium funding, no city tax dollars are being used to fund the stadium and no money is being diverted from HPD. We are doing the best we can with our resources. Thank you to those that continue to support our men and women.
