Hagerstown drivers: multiple streets closed Friday night for 5k race

10 August 2023- Beginning at 7:30 PM on Friday, August 11th, Krumpe’s Do-nut Shop will sponsor a 5K race in the south end of Hagerstown. The race route will consist of a loop around First Street, Chestnut Street, Garlinger Avenue, Rose Hill Cemetery, and Spruce Street. Beginning at 4:00 PM, First Street will be closed to all traffic between Spruce Street and Maryland Avenue.

At the start of the race at 7:30 PM, S. Potomac Street will be closed to traffic between Memorial Blvd. and Howard Street; this closure will last approximately 30 minutes until racers have cleared the course.

No other streets will be closed during the race, but traffic along the course will be shifted to one side of each street to provide a clear lane for the race participants. The Hagerstown Police Department and the Auxiliary Police will provide traffic control at intersections and other key locations around the route. Motorists approaching the race route should expect to encounter cones, barricades, and other traffic control devices. It is anticipated that the race will be completed by approximately 8:30 PM, and the event itself will end at approximately 10:30 PM.

Emergency vehicles will be able to pass through the streets that comprise the race route.
