June 5 – The Chambersburg Planning and Zoning Commission will meet tomorrow at 7 p.m. at 100 South Second Street where the group will be discussing a request from Lance Kegerreis, Dennis E. Black Engineering, submitted on behalf of Preowned Motor Cars, LLC, to consider rezoning a portion of the Melvin Lesher Partnership property between Brandon Drive and Interstate 81 from low density residential to distributed commercial highway.
Pat Ryan of NewsTalk 103.7FM said, “If you’re not familiar with this, if that’s a neighborhood you’re living in or you’re interested in this, this one kind of caught me by surprise here. I mean going low density residential to distributed commercial highway, I’m certain the people in that neighborhood are paying attention to that but it caught my eye.”
Attorney Clint Barkdoll said, “I’m not familiar with this proposal, but I am familiar with the area in which they are apparently proposing to do this. I would imagine there’s going to be residents in that neighborhood that may come out and comment on this. But that general area, of course, is becoming more and more developed. There’s a lot of commercial activity in that general area, but it sounds like there would have to be some rezoning and or a variance issue to make happen what they are proposing. So that might be an interesting meeting to follow tomorrow.”
