Franklin Co. PSP Roundup: Multiple DUIs for unresponsive drivers across the county

25 September 2023- An unresponsive driver on a random person’s yard leads to DUI charges for a Martinsburg man in Franklin County earlier this month. PSP Troopers were called to a home on Bino Road, Montgomery Township around 11:45am for an unresponsive driver of a vehicle on the lawn of a home in the 6100 block.

Police say the 37 year old Martinsburg man was visibly intoxicated and was subsequently taken into custody on suspicion of DUI. His name has not yet been released.


Troopers were called to a disabled motorist near the intersection of Falling Spring Road and Briar Lane earlier this week and allegedly found a man visibly intoxicated.

Police allegedly found a 29 year old Springfield, Ohio man disabled in the middle of the road around 2am on September 23rd. Through the investigation, police say that he was showing signs of impairment and was arrested on suspicion of DUI. His name has not been released as of yet.


Police are looking into what seems like an attempted burglary at a home in Mercersburg earlier this month. Troopers were called to a home on Little Cove Road, Warren Township around 11:45am on September 16th for an inactive burglary. Upon arrival, police found a damaged wooden door, valued at $100. Nothing else has been listed to have been stolen. PSP continue to investigate.


Another apparent DUI was found around 4:45pm on August 10th near Shippensburg when a man was found hunched over his steering wheel. Troopers say that the 33 year old Shippensburg man was found at the intersection of Locust Street and Possum Hollow Road and to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested on suspicion of DUI.


PSP is investigating a reported PayPal scam against an elderly Chambersburg couple earlier this summer. Police say they were contacted at the PSP Barracks in Scotland about a scam that allegedly took place between August 15th and August 21st against a 79 year old female and an 80 year old male. There are no suspects associated with this investigation, but anyone with information should contact PSP-Chambersburg.

Police say the scam resulted in the loss of $2950 from a PayPal account that was used to purchase Bitcoin.


An inmate at the Franklin County Jail is now facing extradition charges to Florida following notification of a felony warrant out of Broward County. Troopers say they received the info at 12:45am on September 22nd and contacted the Franklin County Jail that Donta Louis, 32, of Chambersburg, was facing the additional legal troubles in FL. A complaint was filed through the MDJ and he is awaiting extradition.


PSP is investigating a reported domestic involving a 55 year old man and a 16 year old juvenile boy in Waynesboro earlier this month. Troopers were dispatched around 9:30pm on September 21st to Fox Hill Road, Quincy Township, for an active domestic. It was eventually determined that the 55 year old Waynesboro man, who’s relation to the victim is unknown, struck the victim in the face. PSP announced that the man was arrested but not his name. They do, however, continue to investigate.
