27 July 2023- Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a found firearm at the Blue Mountain Service Plaza on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Troopers say that around 8:30am on July 26th, a semi-automatic handgun containing mixed 9mm was found in the parking lot of the rest area. Nobody has been named responsible for the incident, which police have listed “society” as the victims involved. An investigation is ongoing.
PSP are investigating the theft of nearly $2500 worth of tools from a home in Greene Township. Police responded to a home Rocky Spring Road around 8:45am on July 22nd to find a 47 year old male victim who had a number of items taken from a home he was using as storage.
Listed as being stolen include an 18″ Stihl chain saw, a 14″ Echo chainsaw, a 20′ logging chain, a Black Jack 2 ton jack stand, a 3500 watt Predator generator, 100ft of Exben tree rope, multiple containers of expensive oil and coolant, a well pump, a solar light, a pneumatic nail remover, and numerous hand tools. The total value of the items adds to $2497.
PSP Chambersburg Troopers are currently investigating.
Police are searching for a a missing firearm last seen near the border of Adams and Franklin County in Franklin Township. Police say that between 8:15pm and 8:30pm on July 24th, a black Taurus Judge chambered in both .45 and 410 caliber was lost from a location near Carbaugh and District Roads.
The serial number listed on the firearm is CT844987. Anyone with information on its disappearance should contact PSP-Chambersburg at 717-264-5161.
Police announce the arrest of a 72 year old Chambersburg man on DUI charges from July 4th weekend. The man, who’s name was not listed on police reports, was pulled over near the intersection of Philadelphia Avenue and Cumberland Highway in Greene Township around 9:40pm on July 3rd. Police determined the operator was under the influence of alcohol and taken into custody and later released.
