22 September 2023- The Rite Aid on S Fayette Street in Shippensburg is out a large amount of money and items following an incident of shoplifting. Police say that in one instance of theft the store lost $1,709.70 in merchandise.
During the alleged theft around 4:30pm on August 18th, police say that multiple Rogaine products, Gillette razors, Nicorette gum, Newport cigarettes, allergy medicine, Prevagen, Nicoderm, and Allegra were stolen.
PSP say that the investigation is ongoing but anyone with information should contact PSP-Chambersburg and reference case PA 2023-1088468.
PSP announce the completion of a successful DUI checkpoint last weekend in New Franklin. Troopers set up at New Franklin Elementary School on Wayne Road, PA-316, on September 16th for a DUI checkpoint.
During the checkpoint, officers list a total of 79 vehicles were stopped with 8 traffic citations being issued, 24 warnings issued, 4 DUI arrests, and one drug arrest made.
Police say that two sheds at the Scotland Ball Fields were broken into earlier this month but nothing was taken. Troopers were called to the location on Scotland Road after it was determined someone had busted open two locks securing storage sheds between 6:45pm on August 29th and 6:45pm on September 1st.
No property was found to be missing or disturbed but the locks were a loss. Anyone with information is asked to contact PSP-Chambersburg.
Troopers are investigating a crash on Molly Pitcher Highway at its intersection with Marion Main Street. Troopers say around 4:55pm on September 20th, a Toyota Tundra driven by a 63 year old Saint Thomas man was in the center turn lane facing South when it tried to take a left turn onto Marion Main Street and hit a northbound Volkswagen Beetle. The Beetle then struck a third vehicle, a 1999 Chevy Trail Blazer.
Police say that the driver of the Tundra was taken to Meritus Medical Center by St Thomas EMS for their injuries. The driver of the Volkswagen was taken by Chambersburg EMS to Wellspan Wellflight and subsequently transported to York Hospital. The third vehicle’s occupants were uninjured.
The Saint Thomas man driving the Tundra was subsequently cited for driving with an out of date inspection and not wearing a seatbelt.
