Franklin and Cumberland Cos. PSP Roundup: 3 DUI arrests following checkpoint, more

17 August 2023- Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the reported theft of a 9mm Ruger firearm. Police say that they were alerted to the theft in the 7500 block of Molly Pitcher Highway in Southampton Township just before 3pm on July 15th.

Troopers are currently investigating the reported theft of a Ruger LCP 9mm black and silver handgun from its 53 year old female owner. Anyone with information on this case should contact PSP-Chambersburg.


A successful Cumberland County DUI checkpoint was conducted by Pennsylvania State Police on Saturday, August 12th. While their release following the checkpoint did not have its location, police say that they made three DUI arrests during the event.

Troopers again remind everyone that if you are under the influence you SHOULD NOT DRIVE. Plan your ride home before consuming alcohol, call a friend/family member, a designated driver, or a ride-hailing service.


Troopers from the Carlisle Barracks are investigating a reported theft from a vehicle in Shippensburg that occurred earlier this month. Police were called to a location on S Prince Street around 1am on August 13th for a reported theft and harassment.

After investigating, police have announced charges of theft and harassment against an unnamed 29 year old Chambersburg man. The two victims, a male and female, are both listed as being from Shippensburg.
