Former Wes Moore campaign advisor Peter Perini named to open Hagerstown Council seat

15 November 2023- As announced by Mayor Tekesha Martinez at Tuesday afternoon’s work session, the four current City Councilmembers have made their selection to fill the seat vacated by former Councilmember Robert E. Bruchey, II last month.

The name of Peter E. Perini, Sr. will be put forward for a formal vote at next Tuesday’s Mayor & Council meeting. Pending the results of the vote, Perini will be officially appointed and sworn in by the Mayor immediately thereafter.

Anticipating a favorable vote, Perini has indicated that he is eager to take his place on the Council and contribute. “I am humbled and honored to have been selected by the remaining members to serve the citizens of Hagerstown,” Perini said. “I will work on behalf of all the people of Hagerstown for the betterment of our community. I am grateful for this opportunity and I am excited to be a part of Hagerstown’s major economic development and growth.”

Perini has been extremely active in both the political and business worlds of Washington and Frederick Counties. The President and CEO of Perini Landmark Development Corporation, Perini has also been a State Elector for Joe Biden and a member of the Wes Moore for Governor campaign. He has previously run for Washington County School Board.
