Former Mayor, now former Hagerstown Councilmember Bob Bruchey resigns seat

11 October 2023- City Councilmember Robert E. Bruchey, II resigned his seat at the conclusion of Tuesday’s Mayor & Council work session.

The first-term Councilmember and former four-term Mayor of the City cited an “opportunity for me and my family to change a little bit of direction and solidify ourselves for future years to come” for his decision.

In addressing the body during his Council comments, Bruchey told the Mayor and his fellow Councilmembers that it had been an honor to serve with them and that things have been “left in good hands with the great things happening in Hagerstown and the great things to come.”

It will now be left up to the current members of the Council to decide how they want to proceed, including whether they want to replace Bruchey or finish out the remainder of the current term with just four Councilmembers.
