UPDATE: Flood Watch Extended – Affects ALL of Tristate Area

02 April 2024- Multiple stations of the National Weather Service are advising of significant amounts of rainfall and its runoff causing a significant flood danger. NWS Baltimore/Washington DC and NWS State College have both issued flood watches,

The WV listening area & Washington County, MD watch until noon Wednesday 3 April 2024. In PA the watch is in place until 8am Thursday 4 April 2024.

NWS Baltimore has issued the watch for Washington County Maryland and Berkeley, Jefferson, and Morgan Counties in West Virginia. NWS State College has issued the warning for Franklin, Fulton, Cumberland, Perry, Adams, and numerous other Central PA counties.

Forecasters say creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

Additional rainfall between 2 and 3 inches is forecast through Wednesday. Locally higher amounts up to 4 inches are possible. The heavy rainfall forecast through midweek will result in an increasing risk of flooding in the watch area.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
