22 January 2024- A bar fight in northern Franklin County has sent a Wells Tannery man to jail in Franklin County on a heft bail. William Cole is behind bars in Franklin County on $100,000 bail following charges being levied against him of felony aggravated assault with extreme indifference, misdemeanor assault, and summary harassment. Cole’s case is referenced, as well, in PSP Incident Number PA 2024-87376.
Franklin County Dispatch initially received a phone call from the bartender at the Lakeview Bar on Path Valley Road, Metal Township around 12:30am. That person told police that a fight had just occurred and there was a man at the bar with significant injuries. PSP and an ambulance were dispatched soon after.
PSP reportedly learned that the victim was at the bar with his girlfriend when they were eventually joined by William Cole. A fight then occurred that would result in significant injuries to the victim, which required transportation to Fulton County Medical Center for his injuries.
Speaking to the victim at Fulton County Medical Center, Troopers say they found a man with severe swelling and bruising to his entire face as well as significant dried and fresh blood on it. The man could not move his jaw but was able to speak with his mouth and lips. Doctors at the hospital allegedly told police that this man suffered multiple facial fractures.
Through the investigation, police were led to question William Cole about the incident. Troopers say during this interview Cole admitted to getting into a fight with this man after learning that the man had choked his girlfriend earlier this week. During the fight, police allegedly learned that this man had kicked out the headlines and broke off the side mirror of Cole’s grandmother’s truck. The injuries, Cole allegedly told police, all came from him physically punching the victim.
Due to the connection with PSP Incident Number PA 2024-87376, it remains likely that the man involved in the fight with William Cole was Nicky Strait.
William Cole failed to post bail of $100,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is set for January 30th.
