Come out for the day and take a self-guided tour in one or all three of our indoor Museums, watch our Hearth Cooker prepare a meal in the native Poffenberger Log Cabin, learn about 18th Century Brewing next to the 1800’s Poffenberger Cabin and Drying Shed; 17th-18th Century. Dressmaking techniques inside the 1750 Glass Family Log Cabin); Bodging techniques in the Carpenter’s Shop, Broommaking demonostration in the Broommaker/Cobbler’s Shops area, Hand Forging and 18th Century Accoutrement crafts in the Blacksmith Shop. Artisan crafts will be for sale in the Village. A lunch stand and bake sale will be set up on the Spickler Country Store Porch with picnic tables amoung the native buildings and Medicinal herb garden in the Rural Village and Homestead. We are also celebrating the 10th year of our Transportation Museum which features early and rare cars and bicycles manufactured in Hagerstown. Local antique automobile clubs will be gathering and displaying their cars in the Transportation museum’s parking lot. Our special aritisan interpreters for the day will be: Stone House History, Oak Grove -Historical Brewing, Fikar’s Finest, Stonefield Accoutrements, The Moonshine Forge Blacksmith Shop, and the Washington County Maryland Master Gardeners ( Saturday only).
