Drug sale charges in PA, extradition to VA pending for Chambersburg man after midday foot chase in Fayetteville

31 May 2024- Another simple traffic stop in Franklin County has led to the arrest and pending extradition of a Chambersburg man to the state of Virginia. Nyson Tyree Keepler is facing charges in Pennsylvania of felony flight to avoid apprehension, felony possession with intent to distribute, misdemeanor evading arrest on foot, citation failure to wear a seatbelt, and felony arrest prior to requisition. Keepler has a combined bail of $135,000, which he failed to post.

Pennsylvania State Police initially stopped a Volkswagen Jetta with PA plates in the 5800 block of Lincoln Way East outside Fayetteville around 12:52pm on May 30th for an expired registration. Upon speaking with the driver and passenger, Troopers discovered that the passenger was Nyson Keepler, a man wanted in an extradition case in Winchester, VA. Keepler appears to have multiple charges against him out of Winchester, including three different bench warrants for failure to appear and one count of violation of a court order. Due to these charges, Keepler was eligible to be sent to Virginia to await court hearings.

Troopers asked Keepler to step out of the vehicle, to which he complied. Shortly after, though, PSP say Keepler ran when he was told to put his hands behind his back. He was quickly apprehended, however, after a foot chase that went down E Main Street in Fayetteville and a nearby field.

As Troopers asked to search the vehicle he was originally in, Keepler allegedly interjected from a distance, “it’s mine”. As to what “it’s” was, a search of the vehicle allegedly yielded a fanny pack containing a digital scale and a backpack containing clear plastic baggies with 140g of marijuana inside. Additionally, almost $500 in cash was found inside that backpack.

Nyson Keepler is behind bars in Franklin County on both the drug and extradition charges. His extradition is pending, but has been confirmed by the Winchester Police Department.
