Dr. Joyce Celebrates School Choice Week, Visits Cumberland Valley Christian School

CHAMBERSBURG – Congressman John Joyce, M.D. (PA-13) today visited Cumberland Valley Christian School in Chambersburg. During his visit, which coincides with National School Choice Week, Dr. Joyce spoke to the students about public service and the founders’ intentional design of American democracy.

“In America, every parent should have the opportunity to send their child to the school of their choice. As we celebrate National School Choice Week, it was a privilege to join Pastor Mike Sanders, Principal Amy Garvin, and the Cumberland Valley Christian School students, teachers, and faculty to witness educational choice in action,” said Dr. Joyce. “Especially as our nation combats the COVID-19 pandemic, we must empower parents and families with options to choose the best education for their children, regardless of their zip code or socioeconomic status.”

In Congress, Dr. Joyce supports legislation that supports school choice. This week, he co-sponsored the Student Empowerment Act, which would expand 529 Education Savings Accounts to cover certain K-12 educational expenses. Dr. Joyce also co-sponsored the Military Child Educational Freedom Act, which would provide military families with stability by allowing home schoolers of active duty military to access their Coverdell Educational Savings Account, regardless of the state in which they reside.
