Developing: Two PSP Troopers shot in Juniata County, one officer and shooter killed

17 June 2023- Two Pennsylvania State Police Troopers were shot today in Juniata County. One Trooper succumbed to his injuries and the second was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

A man reportedly engaged Troopers in Mifflintown Borough around 12:45pm and shot one Trooper, who was seriously injured and transported to a local hospital. After a search, the shooter was located in the area of Swamp Road and Baumgardner Drive in Walker Township, Juniata County shortly before 3pm. Troopers exchanged gunfire with the shooter and during the exchange, the shooter and a Trooper were both shot and killed.

The public is asked to avoid the area, as the scene remains active. There is no threat to the public and the incident is contained.

Governor Josh Shapiro and PSP Colonel Christopher Paris are currently at the hospital where the wounded Trooper was taken.

The names of the male subject and the involved Troopers will be released at a later time. We look for an update from Pennsylvania State Police.
