1 July 2023: It looks like multiple agencies are involved in the Potomac River as multiple people are now reported to be heading down the river without life vests.
Initial reports came in that a child was stranded on the rocks in the Potomac River at Harper’s Ferry Point but it has since developed as a water rescue of 7-8 people. Authorities are saying that it is likely none of the people in the water have PFDs, or Personal Flotation Devices, and are in distress.
This is a developing situation.
