UPDATE (3:45pm): Updates released from Franklin Fire Company in Chambersburg are below.
Crews found a subject trapped at the legs between a rail car and heavy duty conveyor track. Squad 41 utilized the HyperTherm cutter, airbags, rams and cribbing. The complex incident required multiple torches working as well as rail car lifters, which were used by the company. Crews completed a difficult extrication in approximately an hour and a half. Multiple departments and agencies responded to assist on this incident including MSP Trooper 1 and the Baltimore, MD Shock Trauma “Go-Team”.
UPDATE (1:25pm): Fire and EMS report that the man has been extricated from the scene and trauma personnel are treating him. A Life Flight helicopter was seen in Chambersburg.
UPDATE (11:20am): EMS and Franklin County dispatch have called for a GO team to the location. A GO team often involves shock trauma physicians and certified registered nurse anesthetist.
ORIGINAL STORY
24 July 2023- Police, Fire, and ambulance technicians are advising of a trauma injury at the TB Woods, Regal Rexnord, plant in Chambersburg after a man is caught in one of the machines.
Emergency workers were dispatched to the location on 440 Fifth Avenue around 11am today for a man with legs trapped in a machine. Authorities expect the man to be driven to Chambersburg Hospital and subsequently taken by helicopter to a trauma hospital.
