Developing: Ethics complaint to be filed against Mastriano for “Interference with the 2020 Election”

02 January 2024- A Philadelphia-area Senator in Pennsylvania has announced that he will be filing an ethics complaint against Senator Doug Mastriano due to perceived actions taken after the November 2020 election.

Senator Art Haywood of Montgomery and Philadelphia counties announced in a press conference this afternoon that he is filing a formal complaint against Mastriano due to what he calls “public record” involving events with Mastriano in 2020, 2021, and onwards.

“I am asking the Pennsylvania State Senate to investigate the conduct of my colleague, Senator Doug Mastriano, in his efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election in a coup attempt to keep Donald J Trump in office”, said Haywood during his press conference. “We know that Senator Mastriano took the oath of office twice. Most recently on January 5th, 2021. We know that the public record shows he used his prominence and reputation in the Senate and his office to conduct a bogus hearing at which advisors of the then-president, who were not under oath, provided testimony that would later be proven false.”

Haywood was also joined by members of the organization CREW, or Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, in his press conference in the PA State Capitol. This is the same organization which has advocated for the barring of former president Donald Trump from the 2024 presidential ballot in multiple states.

Much of what Sen. Haywood cites in his press conference as ethical issues stem from his 2021 hearing in Gettysburg about election security and questions arising from the 2020 presidential election, including testimony from a number of witnesses. This, Haywood says, is all “public record” from his “Senate derived bully pulpit”.
