01 September 2023- At least one person has been confirmed deceased in a multi vehicle collision near the Pennsylvania/Maryland border on I-81 southbound. Police, fire, and EMS were alerted to the collision around 10am on Friday morning and crews confirmed it includes a tractor trailer on top of a car.
Extrication has been conducted on some people in the vehicle but at least one person is confirmed dead on the scene. First Responders have the roadway completely blocked on the Southbound side so travel is severely limited between Hagerstown and Greencastle. Expect delays as well on Northbound side as crews use the whole roadway to store vehicles and onlookers coming that way. Additionally, slow downs are likely on side roads like US-11, the Greencastle and Cearfoss Pikes, and other secondary roads.
