8 April 2022- A Chambersburg man is behind bars today with a $250,000 bail after allegedly selling fentanyl to an undercover police officer. Jaqueis Deanthony Staple is charged with one count of intent to deliver a controlled substance and three counts of criminal use of communication facility, all felonies, after selling what he said were M30 pills, a fake version of oxycodone.

Detective Cole Baker of the Chambersburg Police Department was contacted by a confidential informant who received M30 pills for a sum of US currency allegedly from Staple on August 13, 2021. Field tests were not done on the pills due to the possible potency of the product. The transaction allegedly happened in Chambersburg’s 2nd Ward.

Staple was positively identified as the individual who delivered the controlled substance, according to Chambersburg PD. The defendant also allegedly utilized a communication facility, text messaging specifically, to communicate and facilitate the drug transaction with the confidential informant.

After delivery to the Pennsylvania State Police Laboratory, the pills were found to contain fluorofentanyl, a schedule 1 fentanyl derivative. Staple’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 19th. He was unable to post his $250,000 bail.
