CVBCA 24th Annual Walk to be held virtually anytime, anywhere

CHAMBERSBURG – An annual community walk/run that has been supporting “Pink Warriors” throughout the community will look different this year.

The 24th Annual 5k Walk/Run sponsored by the Cumberland Valley Breast Care will be held virtually.

“Due to COVID, this year our event will be different, but we are determined to honor our Pink Warriors and remember our loved ones,” said CVBCA President Sharon Brosious.

Instead of an organized one-day event, participants can choose their own time and location to complete the 5k.

“Walk/run at your own pace, anytime that fits your schedule,” Brosious explained. “Suggested locations are on a trail, around your neighborhood, your backyard, or even inside your home on a treadmill. You can walk/run alone or with a group of friends. It’s your race, on your terms.”

The CVBCA is a faith-based ministry whose mission is to provide financial support, care packages, personal assistance, education and current information in the areas of breast cancer and preventative health care to women and men of any age, race, religion and socio-economic level in Franklin County and surrounding areas.

Their annual 5k walk/run was created to promote public awareness of breast cancer and to come together as a community to show our love and support for those going through treatment.

“In our community, women are provided everything they need. We help with urgent utility bills, rent, food, medicine, wigs, etc. Last year alone, we were able to help take care of 162 individuals who were newly diagnosed with breast cancer, giving each patient a lovely care pack which included a $25 gift card, as well as provide over $8,000 in financial aid for those who qualified. We provided free mammograms for 92 women and 2 men through our MammaGift Project,” Brosious said. “No one does without during this painful time and that is because of the love and support of you. Together we can make a difference.”

This year’s event is sponsored by Wellspan Health, M&T Bank, Waynesboro Construction, Park Avenue Pharmacy, The Pineapple Group, The Pink Insurance People of Jeff Fisher Insurance Agency, Madeira Chiropractic, Chambersburg Hearing Center, Hickory Ridge Restaurant, Your Hometown Real Estate and Forrester Farm Equipment.

Registration for the event is $20. To register online, visit For more information call CVBCA at 717-263-7191 or email: Find them on Facebook at
