CPD Roundup: Targeted traffic enforcement on E Queen, more

02 November 2023- During the month of November, the Chambersburg Police Department announces they will be conducting targeted traffic enforcement details on E Queen St.  If you are pulled over for a traffic violation in this area, you will receive a citation, per the department.


On Sunday, 10/29/23, CPD Officers responded to 245 Whitley Drive for a reported Domestic Dispute. The investigation revealed that the defendant physically assaulted his girlfriend during an argument. The victim sustained bodily injury as a result of the defendant’s actions. The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to Franklin County Jail to await arraignment. 


On 10/29/2023 the victim came into the lobby of CPD and reported that he was spit on while driving through the 200 block of E. Liberty St. 

The victim had asked the subjects to move their vehicle from the roadway since it was parked in a travel lane blocking traffic and the response from these subjects was to spit on him.  The victim’s window was down, and spit did get inside his vehicle on the steering wheel and dashboard.  

The vehicle blocking the roadway was a white Toyota SDN with a Maryland registration plate.  The victim described the persons who spit on him as 4 Hispanic males who appeared to be teenagers.

On 10/21/2023, CPD officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Wayne Ave and Orchard Dr after observing Jose Villanueva-Ortiz operating his vehicle at night time with no lights on his vehicle. Officers learned through their investigation that Ortiz was driving his vehicle while being intoxicated to a degree that he could not safely do so and was subsequently taken into custody for DUI.
