CPD Roundup: Missing gun, multiple bike thefts, 120ft of copper piping stolen

09 July 2024- Chambersburg PD say that on 6/30/2024, between 5:15pm and 6:15pm, a fence was damaged to the rear of 436 S Fourth St. Anyone with information regarding this incident is requested to contact the Chambersburg Police Department or leave a tip on Crimewatch.


Carlos Simon-Mendoza was arrested on 06/23/2024 by the Chambersburg Police Department for loitering around a residence in the 400 block of E Queen St at approximately 0130 hrs.

Simon-Mendoza was charged with (1) count of Loitering and prowling at night time (M3) and (1) count of Public Drunkenness (S). 


On 06/28/2024, CPD took a report of a stolen bicycle. A black Huffy Mountain Bike was stolen from Mike Waters Park between the dates of 06/26/2024 and 06/28/2024. On 07/08/2024, CPD took a report of a stolen bicycle. A black/red 26″ Men’s Huffy Mountain Bicycle was stolen from the 500 block of Stanley Avenue on 07/06/24 at 1200 hours. The bicycle has a black frame, red fenders, a large “Cloud 9” seat, and wide white wall tires.  

The victim stated that the suspect entered his backyard and removed the bicycle. The suspect is described as a younger black male with dreads. If you have any information regarding the stolen bicycle, please contact the Chambersburg Police Department or leave a tip on Crimewatch. 


On 7/8/2024, a Guatemalan passport belonging to Alfredo Perez-Hernandez was found at Mike Water’s Park on S Second St.. Perez-Hernandez may retrieve his passport at the Chambersburg Police Department.  Anyone knowing Perez-Hernandez, please let him know where he can recover his property. 


On 7/8/2024, CPD received a report of a lost firearm. The caller advised that he lost the pictured firearm between 6/23/2024 and 7/7/2024. Please contact the Chambersburg Police Department or submit a CrimeWatch tip if you have any information related to this incident. 


On 5/27/2024, CPD responded to the unit block of N Third St for the report of a burglary. The homeowner reported that approximately 120 feet of copper pipe was stolen from her two rental apartments.
