CPD Roundup: Hit and run in borough takes out fire hydrant, more

05 June 2024- On 06/02/24 the Chambersburg Police Department was dispatched to the 700 block of Floral Avenue for a hit and run. The caller reported that a fire hydrant had been struck and knocked over sometime overnight.

The striking vehicle left behind car parts with one of them having a part number. The black plastic piece was a rocker panel from a 2007-2010 Dodge Charger or similar vehicle. There were also metallic blue paint chips on the ground. It is believed that the striking vehicle is a 2007-2010 metallic blue Dodge Charger or similar vehicle with passenger side damage. On 05/30/24 between 1340 hrs and 1845 hrs, a 2021 white in color Subaru Impreza was struck while parked in the parking lot of 432 Gateway Ave.  The striking vehicle struck the rear bumper of the victim’s vehicle causing minor damage.  Anyone with information regarding this accident can contact the Chambersburg Police Dept or submit a tip.

On 05/18/24 at 0510 hrs, an unknown male entered the back yard of the victim’s residence and stole a tan in color grill cover.  Anyone with information regarding this theft can contact the Chambersburg Police Dept or submit a tip.

At some point between December of 2023 and May 24, 2024, someone stole several nuts and bolts from the undercarriage of a “food truck” trailer that was parked on 200 Black Ave. This theft made the trailer unable to be moved. Kevin Short picked up two personal pizzas from Sheetz and left the store without paying for them.  This is Short’s third offense making it a felony. 

The Pennsylvania State Police arrested Kevin Matthew Short on Tuesday June 4th, 2024.
