CPD Roundup: $3,000 in merchandise out the door, more

28 November 2023- Chambersburg PD is looking the public’s help on a number of incidents throughout the borough, as well as announce an arrest. Full details from the department are below.

On 11/9/2023, at 9:28 PM, a CPD officer initiated a traffic stop operated by Jose Ruiz-Garcia after observing a traffic violation. Ruiz-Garcia was found to be under the influence of alcohol and had a .200% Blood Alcohol Concentration. A criminal complaint was filed against Ruiz-Garcia for DUI. 

On 11/13/2023 at 6:29 pm CPD units were dispatched to Subway located at 947 Norland Ave for a theft. CPD met with a manager who explained that a Hispanic man wearing a grey Dewalt hoodie went to the register to buy juice. The suspect gave the Subway employee a $100 bill to pay for the juice, then confused the employee by offering to pay with a smaller bill while the employee was making change. 

The suspect walked out of the store with $95 and his original $100 bill.  

He is a person of interest, but not necessarily a suspect at this time. If you believe you have information that can assist the police in identifying or locating this person, please submit a tip.

On 11/16/2023 Chambersburg Police responded to Kohl’s for a retail theft which occurred on 11/03/2023.  A female entered the business and stole approximately $3000.00 worth of skin care and beauty products. 

The person shown in this photo may have information relevant to an ongoing police investigation.

On 11/20/2023, the Chambersburg Police Department took a report of an accident involving damage to a building. An unknown vehicle struck the awning of the Providence Christian Academy located at 474 Grant St.

The incident was to occur between the evening of 11/17/2023 and the morning of 11/20/2023. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to submit a tip or contact the Chambersburg Police Department at 717-264-4131.

A Chambersburg resident reported someone had driven through their front yard sometime on 11/23/2023 between the hours of 1630-2000 hours. 

The vehicle caused deep ruts into the yard. Anyone with information is asked to submit a tip on Crimewatch or contact Chambersburg Police Department.
