14 September 2023- On 9/11/2023, the Chambersburg Police received a report of a stolen handgun from Ashley Drive. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that a 15-year-old female had taken the pistol and given it to a 17-year-old male. Information was obtained as to the possible location of the firearm.
On 9/12/2023, Chambersburg Police Detectives and the Pennsylvania State Police responded to the 600 block of Heintzelman Avenue in an attempt to locate the firearm. A Chambersburg Police K9 Unit, K9 Drago, located the stolen firearm in the wood line between Heintzelman Avenue and Miller Street. A second stolen firearm was also located and recovered in the same area. This firearm was reported as stolen to the Chambersburg Police on 9/7/2023.
The 17-year-old male was located in the area and taken into custody. This juvenile was charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Firearms not to be carried without a License. The juvenile was then turned over to Franklin County Juvenile Probation. The 15-year-old female was charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking.
