29 December 2023- A Mont Alto man is facing additional charges following alleged attempts at smuggling drugs into the Franklin County Jail during processing. Travis Allen Meshyock is charged with four felony counts of possession of a controlled substance by an inmate and four misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance. Meshyock is still behind bars after his initial booking, this time on a bail of $10,000.

Troopers were dispatched to the Franklin County Jail just before 5:30am on December 29th for a report of found contraband in the facility’s processing area. When they arrived, Troopers spoke to correctional officers to learn about a search of a new prisoner, Travis Meshyock.

Correctional Officers reportedly told police that when they were searching Meshyock, who was taken in on an outstanding Bench Warrant, they found multiple bags of suspected contraband. Officers say they found a bag of suspected leafy marijuana, a bag of white crystal substance, a pink substance wrapped in a brown paper town, and a clear substance in a black wrapper. These items were found on Meshyock’s person, which officers say were hidden around sensitive areas of his body. Troopers determined that the substances were likely all controlled substances.
