16 February 2023- A Shippensburg man is behind bars again after he allegedly cuts off his probation ankle monitor and tosses it in on the side of the road. Pedro Luis Medina De Leon is charged with misdemeanor flight to avoid apprehension, trial, or punishment and is behind bars on $75,000 bail.
On January 26th, Chambersburg PD received a call from Franklin County Adult Probation about a man they had under supervision, Pedro Luis Medina De Leon. De Leon was under supervision from them on prior assault charges and he was supposed to be wearing an ankle monitor as part of his probation conditions. Around 2:30pm that day, however, they allegedly received a tamper alert from De Leon’s ankle monitor and it was later found discarded in the 1100 block of Wayne Avenue in the borough, which is near the I-81 overpass.
Using borough cameras, CPD allegedly found De Leon riding in the passenger seat of a silver sedan just after the 2:30pm on Wayne Avenue. De Leon can allegedly be seen throwing the ankle monitor out of the window and onto the side of the road. De Leon was picked up and arraigned on February 16th.
De Leon is behind bars on $75,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is set for February 28th.
