Chambersburg mother allegedly hits woman with her own kids in the car

04 December 2023- Felony charges have been filed against a Chambersburg mother who allegedly ran over another woman while driving a car containing her own unrestrained children. Jaylin Nicole Jones is charged with three counts of felony child endangerment, misdemeanor assault, misdemeanor reckless endangerment, careless driving, failure to stop and render aid, and failing to stop after damage. She is currently behind bars on $75,000 bail.

PSP were dispatched to the Super 8 Motel on Buchanan Trail East, Antrim Township around 12:20pm on December 2nd for a reported domestic incident. Police say that they learned Jaylin Jones had a verbal fight with the father of her children before she attempted to flee in her Honda Accord. During the attempt to flee, Jones allegedly struck a victim who says she was trying to assist Jones in the safety of her children.

The victim, police say, was knocked to the ground and hit her head, sustaining injuries that would eventually send her to Meritus Medical Center for possible head injuries.

According to security footage obtained by police, Jones pulled into a parking spot the victim exited the front seat of the vehicle. The victim walked to the passenger side backs seat door to help with the kids when Jones allegedly backed her vehicle up and struck the victim. Jones would allegedly continue in reverse and drove away after hitting the victim. Additionally, Troopers say Jones struck a parked car as she left, which she again did not report.

After a BOLO, or Be On the Look Out, was issued for Jones’ vehicle, she was subsequently detained. During interviews, Jones allegedly denied involvement but said she had been in a fight with the father of her children. Continuing, Jones allegedly said she called for help and a woman she called “Morgan” (not the name of the victim) had come to help her.

When asked about the hitting of “Morgan”, Jones allegedly said she knew she hit her, but saw her standing so she continued to leave. Additionally, Jones reportedly told officers she believed this woman “was trying to steal her children”. This children, a 5 year old, a 2 year old, and a 4 month old, were found non properly restrained in Jones’ backseat.

Jaylin Jones is behind bars on $75,000. Her preliminary hearing is set for December 12th.
