Chambersburg man leads FCSO Deputies on daytime chase through borough

16 January 2024- A daytime chase in Chambersburg last week with Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies concludes, luckily, without anyone injured. Morgan Manuel Paz-Gonzalez is charged with felony fleeing an officer and six separate traffic violations. He’s behind bars on $25,000 bail.

Members of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office were on regular patrol in daylight hours of Thursday, January 11th, when they allegedly spotted a man wanted by their office. Morgan Paz-Gonzalez was identified based off bench warrants for his arrest driving a Honda Pilot with MD plates on E Washington Street.

When FCSO deputies u-turned to attempt to pull Paz-Gonzalez over, he reportedly went through stop signs and stop lights in order to get away from the officers. Driving through Chambersburg at what deputies describe as high speeds, Paz-Gonzalez reportedly tried to get away from police on multiple main roads and side streets prior to stopping outside a garage on Industrial Drive.

Paz-Gonzalez, deputies say, jumped out of his car and told police “this isn’t even my car”, before being detained. The car was determined by officers to be a customer’s vehicle that he was driving from the garage. Deputies say that Paz-Gonzalez was detained without incident after the run.

Morgan Paz-Gonzalez is behind bars on $25,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is set for January 23rd.
