22 August 2023- A married Chambersburg man is looking at multiple felony charges after a warrant service on his home uncovers numerous instances of child pornography. Ryan Michael Ziemer is charged with 10 counts of felony child pornography possession and one count of felony criminal use of a communications facility. Ziemer failed to post bail of $100,000 and is behind bars in Franklin County.
The investigation into Ziemer goes back over three years, with police receiving a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children of child sexual material being uploaded to Dropbox on April 15th of 2020. Police were able to trace the confirmed child porn back to an IP address associated with a Verizon customer in the Chambersburg area. That IP address was allegedly associated with Ryan Ziemer.
On December 10th of 2020, Pennsylvania State Police executed a search warrant on a home on Thistledown Road in Greene Township. Ryan Ziemer allegedly opened the door for the investigators and let them in to execute the search warrant around 7:15am.
Police confirmed a number of information pieces, including accounts and their associated emails, including Dropbox. Ziemer allegedly agreed to an interview with investigators, telling them that he may have seen child pornography on the website 8chan. This then developed with Ziemer allegedly saying that he had a previous curiosity in child pornography but doesn’t anymore. He reportedly told the PSP Corporal that he had a pornography addiction but that he views hentai and drawn pornography. Zeimer confirmed he had previously used Dropbox to upload pornography he had sourced from Telegram.
After a number of sex items were allegedly found in his home, police spoke with Ziemer’s wife. She reportedly told police that she was unaware of her husband looking at child porn, but said he watched other types of porn including furry. Ziemer’s wife allegedly said that some of the pornography her husband looked at appeared to depict minors but that they characters are older than they appear. This could be considered loli pornography.
Ziemer was charged on Tuesday with child pornography, almost three years after the warrant execution. He is currently behind bars on $100,000.
